
DAVID JON WALKER
David Jon Walker, MFA is a Professor of Art in Graphic and Web Design at Austin Peay State University and owner of Rhealistic Design Group. A native Nashvillian, David has been drawn to the visual arts for as long as he can remember but ultimately deciding to pursue a career in art and design over the sciences while in college. Upon graduation from Tennessee State University, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and launched Rhealistic Design in 2004, a graphic design consultancy.
Active locally and nationally in the community, Mr. Walker works with political candidates, PACs, non-profits, governmental entities, and varying businesses lending his talents to their marketing efforts to increase awareness and further campaigns. Political clients range from Democratic US Representative races, TN State Senate and House race, local Judgeships, Mayoral races, City Council races and more. Such non-political clients include the Tennessee Governor's Office, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Middle Tennessee State University, Ohio State University Tennessee State University, Tougaloo College, the University of Houston, the University of Memphis, The Links, Incorporated, National Alliance of Black School Educators, Operation Standown of TN, The Dixon Gallery and Gardens, the TN Power Together Group (TN Women’s March). His award-winning works have been recognized by Campaigns and Elections, the International Association of Business Communicators, AIGA and the College Media Association.
He began his teaching career at Middle Tennessee State University, teaching web design and graphic design courses. Through community relationships, partnership, and community engagements, he has students working all over the country in advertising and marketing agencies, design studios and firms and as in-house designers.
Mr. Walker serves on the boards of the Public Art Committee for the City of Nashville, AIGA Nashville as President Emeritus (a local chapter of AIGA, the professional association of design), Bordeaux North Nashville Chamber of Commerce (Co-Founder and Board Vice-Chair), Nashville Emerging Leaders and Disciple's Village Senior Living Home.
He is a graduate of Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art (2004) and the University of Memphis with a Masters of Fine Arts in Graphic Design (2011).
Mr. Walker is an avid skier, scuba diver, and traveler. He enjoys outdoor activities, driving, fine timepieces, and good films. He is the father of three, David Jaron, Drew and Dash.
